work In Progress

For example each piece of York-Stone for the steps and terrace were individually selected by their colour, shape, density and its visible characteristics such as wear through being walked on over the past 100 years! Once selected we then cut the stone to its new required size, we then re-faced each sides by hand so when it was laid it would look as though it had been there for 70+ years. Once it was laid if it didn't look absolutely perfect it would be lifted and the entire process would be repeated until the stone reflected these exacting standards. As a guide each piece of York-Stone took an average of 1hr 40min's from selection to its eventual laying. This terrace alone has taken over 4 weeks and over half of it was already in-situ.
